Calling all Meteorologists!
It is officially fall! What a great time to be a kid. The leaves are changing and falling everywhere, the wind is blowing, the rain is falling, and if you’re *really* lucky, you might get to break in those new rainboots (or bare feet!) splashing in some puddles.
Remember when the weather was FUN? Something new and exciting to look forward to every day. You can take advantage of these changing seasons and wild Northern California weather patterns for easy daily science activities. Let your little ones play meteorologist during the school day and see what discoveries they make, all while learning about weather and science concepts!
- Make OBSERVATIONS about the weather using your five senses- What can they see, hear, feel, smell, and even taste about the weather?
- Ask them to draw or write a PREDICTION about what the weather will be over the week.
- Talk about what INSTRUMENTS we can use to measure the weather, learn to read a thermometer, or make a homemade rain gauge or wind sock!
- Help them record their RESULTS using words and pictures, or get creative using cotton balls or paint to show cloud types.
Don’t forget to send us pictures of your weather adventures!
